Administrative Policy - Safety Procedures

  1. The safety of all participants must be our first concern. Above all others. When safety is in question any and all play or practice should be suspended. To this end

    1. Parents or Guardians are at all times responsible for the safety of the participant. They have the ultimate right to withhold the participation of the child when anything is in question.

    2. The Area Director of the participating area is then charged with these overall safety procedures.

  2. First Aid supplies must be present at all events, game, competition or practice. These supplies at a minimum must include:
    Ice or Cold Packs.  If possible, ice should already be on the sidelines with plastic bags to shorten delivery if needed

    1. A sling

    2. Scissors

    3. Medical Tape

    4. Bandages

    5. Finger Splints

  3. All participants with Allergies or Asthma will have the necessary medical supples on the sidelines with the First Aid supplies. 

    1. Labeled and checked to be sure ample medicine in an inhaler for all Asthmatic participants

    2. EpiPen(s) for any participant with severe allergies

  4. A First Aid Certified “trainer” will be supplied by one team. This individual will be identified to the SYS official in charge of the event before the event begins. Every effort must be made to be sure this person is close and readily available.

  5. The Home Team will contact the nearest Emergency Responders to let them know of the event being held and any emergency access issues that exist.

  6. All medications must be administered by parents, the participants themselves or emergency medical responders

  7. All injuries will be reported to the Sports Commissioner and the President as soon as the emergency situation is over.
    Clear entrance and access to the field, sidelines and back stage areas of all events will be insured by the Area Director of the home team or SYS official.

  8. Any child transported to an emergency facility or seen by a medical professional as a result of an injury at an SYS event must provide a written release by a physician before returning to participation.
